The Møysalen Hike – An Unforgettable Wilderness Adventure in Vesterålen

Join us on a spectacular journey to the roof of Vesterålen – Møysalen – and experience this legendary mountain up close.

This is more than just a summit hike – it's a journey through Norwegian nature, culture, and mythology. Towering at 1,262 meters above sea level, Møysalen is surrounded by tales, legends, and a landscape that will leave you breathless.

What awaits you?
We begin the day at 09:00 with a tranquil 20-minute boat ride through the serene Lonkanfjord, bringing us to the base of the mountain. From there, our experienced mountain guides will lead you safely and inspiringly toward the summit. Along the way, you’ll hear the mythical tale of two troll maidens turned to stone, and the story behind Møysalen’s name.

This is a hike for those seeking more than just a physical challenge – it's a rare opportunity to walk in the footsteps of legends, nature, and local knowledge.

Important Information:

• Duration: Approx. 10 hours
• Meeting point: Møysalen National Park Centre – by 08:30 at the latest
• Boat transport: Included (20 minutes through Lonkanfjord)
• Difficulty level: Requires good physical condition – not suitable as your first mountain hike
• Gear: Hiking boots with ankle support, weather-appropriate clothing, poles recommended
• Food & drink: Bring enough for 2–3 breaks. Fresh mountain water is available up to 650 m.a.s.l.
• Minimum participants: 6 people
• Registration: At least 48 hours in advance – include names and contact info
• Payment: Pay on-site directly to the provider! Select VIPPS during online checkout
• If any participants are unable to maintain a normal pace, the guide may choose to end the hike for them.

Getting here:
Public transport to Hennes is limited. We recommend arriving by car (FV 822) or taking the express boat to Kaljord (5 min. drive from Hennes). Note: No express boats depart after the hike – consider an overnight stay at Møysalen Camping and enjoy the peace after a fulfilling day!

All tours are weather-dependent. We assess conditions the day before and will contact all participants directly in the event of cancellation.
